Media/Editorial

Generating FREE editorial coverage in the media

There are several ways to get information about your business, brand or product into mainstream and/or industry media.

Your business can be featured
in target media

You can pay for advertising and/or advertorial space; set up a sponsorship arrangement with a media outlet; or seek editorial coverage which is FREE.

To generate editorial coverage you need to:

• make sure you have a story which the media will be interested in

• write a media release that has every chance of being 'picked up'

• distribute the release to the right person, at the right media outlet, at the right time, and

• liaise with the media to increase publication/broadcast opportunities.

Writing a media release that will be successfully ‘picked up’ by the media is a skill. So are the media distribution and liaison processes. These actions enhance the chances of your story being printed or broadcast.

Nikki Shrimpton has worked on both sides of the media fence. She is a trained and experienced journalist who has worked extensively in the media, writing for leading newspapers and magazines. She also has worked for many years in the PR arena.
